Planning to visit Norfolk/VA beach over Easter wknd and we are looking for historic homes to tour. Also need good home style American food restaurant and deli sandwich recommendation. Where are the best public accesses? Any showers? Interested in anything else you have fun for us to see. Thanks!

Go to Williamsburg. You'll get everything you're looking for.

Oh you definitely should check out the Ghent, Freemason, Downtown, Colonial Place areas in Norfolk. You'll see the best architecture of homes in each of these areas. (Even a few row houses! Lol) Very urban man , I'm telling you! Oh yeah, check out the East Beach/ Ocean View areas! That's just Norfolk alone, not to mention the other 6 cities!

Deli - Route 58 Delicatessen in VB

If you like Italian food and are at the Oceanfront, I recommend Mannino's on 33rd St. I believe.

Steak - Zoe's Restaurant.

Eat an American Bistro is good but crazy expensive.

Somewhat isolated from other Va Beach attractions, but.. The Adam Thoroughgood house is kinda' cool. Nice piece of Virginia history. Adam Thoroughgood House :: History Museums :: museumsvb.org

And when u come back out of Thoroughgood's neighborhood, Chic's Beach is right down the road, if you wanna see the Chesapeake Bay side of Va. Beach. There's a nice view of the Bay Bridge Tunnel there. Just a heads up, water is still cold in April. peace.

For historic houses, check out the Heritage Museum in Norfolk. It's beautiful. Also, Babe's recommendation for the Adam Thoroughgood House is a great suggestion too.

For a deli/sandwich spot, I like East Beach Sandwich Co., Taste Unlimited, Ten Top, No Frill Grill, and Handsome Biscuit.

You can also check out the maze of a neighborhood that is Algonquian Park, Norfolk. And the Lochhaven neighborhood, especially around Argyle Ave/N. Shore Rd, Norfolk.

Old Town Portsmouth is very good for historic homes as well. The Victorian Station Tea & Pub in Hampton and the Wythe area of Hampton is another option.

You could also check out the Back Bay/False Cape State Park or First Landing State Park area in VA Beach.

Although the East Beach neighborhood in the Ocean View borough of Norfolk is not old and historic, it sure looks it, and is worth a look, along with the other aforementioned places.

The Nelson House in Yorktown (Yorktown in general is definitely worth a visit). Lee Hall in Newport News is nice but I'm not sure that it is open to the public?
Fort Monroe is also a very pretty and interesting place to visit (old, historic, nice bay views).
Smithfield is charming. Bacon's Castle near Smithfield is really interesting too.

Not sure about houses in Norfolk and VA Beach but downtown Norfolk is very pretty with lots of colonial era houses and churches dotted throughout. Free Mason and Ghent are near perfect.
