Is it a good place for a few days at the beach to use up some air miles that will expire? Does it get unbearably hot and humid like some other coastal towns (Charleston, Savannah, etc.)?

Any area to avoid while there? Any other good tips?

Well, I live here, so Imma say "yes". However, it DOES get very hot and humid here; however, if you get here before June, it shouldn't be much of a problem. All the areas to avoid are pretty much closest to Norfolk.

What month would you be coming? Yes, it does get very hot and humid in the summer.

Where are you coming from and what other places could you go? There's no "must see" attractions in Virginia Beach.

Are you traveling with children?

No because those areas are further South. Virginia does get hot, but you can bare it.

Well, if people in VA Beach BARE it, that might be an interesting thing to see.

I've been there in August and it was unbearable--but that's me, a northerner. Great Dismal Swamp was on fire too so the air was like--gag.

I'm originally from Ohio, and it gets just as cold. Now if you're talking the New England area that is an entirely different animal. I can't compete with that at all.

Either way the MidAtlantic has nothing on the South. If Virgina is too hot for you forget about SC, Georgia and Florida.

That happens every couple of years. It's absolutely miserable when it does, too. Sickening!
