Hi eveyone...i have a question about when i was in the Navy back in the 80's as i was stationed there for a year at Norfolk Naval Shipyards in Portsmouth. I loved that job (all time favorate) working around all the different navy ships in the drydocks etc...

So my question is.....is it still there and hows it doing and also hows the main Naval base doing there too. Has the Bracc treated norfolk navy bases well or are the bases downsizing. I noticed at my other duty station at Jacksonville, Florida that the only aircraft carrier was reciently decommissioned and a naval airbase (cecil naval airbase) was closed and that has somewhat hurt Jacksonville.

Thanks again as was thinking of leaving the southwest desert (albuquerque) and moving to Jacksonville but i will always remember how great the area was back then in the Navy.

Oh yeah...how's my favorate mall back then doing...Military Circle Mall.

Thanks...6/3

I really wouldn't recommend going to Military Mall. The Pembroke area has some nice, new shops. And there's always Lynnhaven Mall in VA Beach and the hoity-toity mall in Norfolk (MacArthur Center).

Yeah...Military Circle Mall may not be your favorite mall anynmore after you revisit it. My husband works as an electrician for Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was fortunate to be hired by the DOD because they contract a lot of services. But he loves it. We moved here 3 years ago from PA so he could work here.
