Hampton Roads is one of the most racially mixed areas I've ever lived in, you'll be fine. In fact, when I moved here from Michigan myself some 18 years ago, I was shocked by the number of interracial couples I saw. I mean, it actually stood out because I didn't see that much in Michigan. Don't know what Coconut is talking about.

Trust me on this one, white and black people have been living in Hampton Roads for over 400 years. I can assure you will see more interracial couples down here than most of places in US

Coconut seems to have been stuck here for some reason and have a dirty grudge against the area. I love this area. I lived in Columbia SC and here is HEAVEN compared to SC.

Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach are bigger cities with more jobs and more entertainment options.

If you are still looking for a place, I'm a local Realtor -- send me a message and I can help you!
You can not send your children to quality schools in Norfolk. Norfolk schools have a horrible reputation for a reason. As a realtor you should be honest in you representation of the area. You should also clarify the beach comment.
