I have heard that Wegmans is coming to Virginia Beach. I went in one years ago in Fairfax and was blown away by it's size and how nice it was. There Are rumors that the old HQ site in Pembroke may be where it's built. There is also speculation the Super Kmart on First Colonial which is soon closing could be the site. I'm just curious if others have heard.

I just recently heard that Wegmans purchased the Kmart. I've also heard that, if the location isn't on Wegmans website, it's still probably 3+ years out. FAQs Detail - Wegmans - About Wegmans

Wegmans is supposed to be a pretty big deal. Not sure if it is on the level of Target or anything but it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Always in favor of having more options. Now if we could just get IKEA.

I recently heard that Walmart is coming to the old Kmart site. Hopefully Wegmans will be building in the Town Center area.

Wegmans is an incredible store. It's huge, beautiful, and has everything. It's an experience. You go there to get all your groceries plus eat at the restaurants. That would be a great addition to VB, something of high quality.

The downside is that it usually isn't practical to go to such a huge store for every day grocery shopping. It's so big that it's overwhelming. But Hampton Rds deserves more high quality stores like this.

Plus Hampton Roads has the real estate. Not sure how vertical some of the Wegmans are but there is plenty of real estate in Virginia Beach you could build out a very large store, easily.
