So what's everyone thinking? I'm planning for a lot of rain but I'm not sold on the hurricane yet.

Well, Jim Cantore's already in town, so you know that TWC thinks Joaquin's up to no good.

Honestly, a lot of predictions have it headed straight for us, but this far out, it's hard to tell. It's always a crapshoot until it hits.

Just returned from Lowe's and bought several pieces of plywood. Hopefully that'll ensure that this storm stays offshore.

BTW, Lowe's doesn't have a lot of plywood, which surprised me. Probably 75 pieces of 3/4" marine-grade. It's not cheap, either.

The Euro model still keeps putting it out to sea but we'll see.

Local newscasters seem amazingly confident that this storm presents no danger to our area.

I sure hope they're right.

I actually bought a sand bag. Water is higher than I've seen it before, or remember seeing it. So far so good.

How bad did VA Beach, specifically the Oceanfront get hit in particular? I have a trip there planned for Columbus Day weekend and am wondering if I should cancel my reservation.

There was flooding but I'm sure they'll have it ready for you.

My mother said Newport News got hit pretty hard. I could hear the wind over the phone one night when she called me.
