Hello--

We are a military family that may be moving to Langley AFB, VA on a EFMP assignment for my Autistic son. I would like to do some preemptive neighborhood hunting before we come to househunt (sometime in April-May). We are looking to buy a house and our maximum we can pay for it is $260,000-$275,000. So basically here are my questions:

- What neighborhoods have the best school districts lowest crime, and are a reasonable drive to the base?

- Is on base housing suitable? Is it in a good school district?

Thanks

Best schools in the area are York County. Look at the Dare, Grafton, Tabb areas. All within 20 minutes from Langley or closer.

Sorry to disagree... Hampton City schools has a great director of Special services. I have an Autistic son and we choose to live in Hampton instead of York County. York County is great for a regular ed kid, not so great for Special needs.

Find a Realtor by searching in real estate search engines for that area. find one who has a web site where you can search proeprties in that area.

Well the Bellegrade neighborhood in Hampton which is right next to the York County line is a great place to start in Hampton. You also have Michael's Woods and Riverside all VERY close the Langley.

Bethel Manor is the off-base military housing area, it is in the highly-rated York County public school district. It looks decent but some of it does look very aged, but still not like most public housing projects.

For special ed, in my experience York Co. is only so-so. I have no idea about Hampton's.
