Hello folks -

I know it sounds silly, but folks do it - if the perks are right.
Anybody, or anybody you know ever commute to work from HR to Richmond or vice versa?

I'm thinking drive to Amtrak station and climb aboard?

Thanks y'all!

There are many areas in Hampton roads, but I would say if your trip takes you thru a tunnel, you should reconsider.

I wouldn't do it. Those places would require crossing a tunnel, in addition to congestion on 64 around the NN/Williamsburg area.

Either area you will be going thru a tunnel, even going to the amtrak station. Unless you are going before 5 a.m it could be a long trip

I commuted from Newport News to east Henrico for over 10 years...its brutal, I worked nights to beat the traffic, if you are coming from the south side forget it, $3.00 gas isn't near as bad as the frustration of the tourist in the summer , IMO don't do it!

Yeah no...Definitely not worth it. I lived in Norfolk and commuted to Wmbg six days a week. There is no way I would even consider Southside to Richmond.

Not no way, not no how! What a nightmare that would be! The bottle neck on 64 (near the NN/WB airport) alone would do you in! How much are they planning to pay you? I think it would have to be well into the six figures to even contemplate it.

Thanks so much! You folks are wonderful!

I am moving to HR in June. I've been looking for jobs. I have received quite a few calls since my last lengthy post "Salary NIghtmare".

Healthcare organizations seem to be in demand for my skill set. However, I received a call the other day from a health system that is located in HR and the Richmond area. The recruiter urged me to consider moving to Richmond to take on a huge hospital project there.

I have never wanted to live in Richmond, I have an elementary school age child that I must think about. That's my first priority among anything else. Sure, my 18 year old could probably get into VCU. But, moving from Philly to Richmond is like going from large urban to semi-urban.

I don't need the headache.

Go ahead, slap me. I wanted to have my cake and eat it too !
