Lake Christopher is a great neighborhood,,, one of the only lake communities with swimming and sailing in Kempsville.

Hmm for some reason I never was notified of any responses on my post so I just now saw this! You are correct on the neighborhood I was thinking about. After looking at the map, we decided the house was just too close to the landfill (even if it will eventually be a park). I also agree with the comment that it did look quite cramped. Also, the house we were looking at didn't have a garage and only had room for one car off the street.

We are actually in escrow on a house over in Norfolk in the Forest Park neighborhood for around the same price. We have had a few of my husband's future coworkers say that the area is decent and they drove by the house multiple times during different times of day/night and said all was quiet. I noticed the schools are rated pretty low but we don't have kids so we aren't too worried about that. I checked out some crime maps and read through all the info I could find on these forums. I actually don't see much at all about the Forest Park neighborhood. I'm assuming that means it isn't the best but not the worst so it doesn't stir up much conversation on here. The house is pretty old, but has been renovated in the last few years. It has a nice large yard for our dogs and the garage we wanted. Hopefully no one here crushes my dreams by saying we should totally avoid that area
