Ok, so we were thinking of moving to Chicks Beach, although now decided that we would prefer to live in more city urban living as such. Have heard that Ghent is up-and-coming.

What we want basically to help out:

Wealthy neighborhood with gorgeous houses...need a view, whether it be of the city or whatever, a must, safe neighborhood, doesn't need to be family friendly, just impeccable.

Any/all suggestions!

Husband based in Norfolk for a 1.5 yrs then Newport News 1.5 years, so needs to be close within (25-30) min max commute.

Thanks in advance.

Chick's Beach is the best.....but if you are looking in the Ghent area....Fairfax Ave., Mowbray Arch, Redgate, and Larchmont might be an area to consider. There are so many great homes within the Ghent area.........get a Real Estate agent to work with though.

I would suggest you consider any of the following Norfolk neighborhoods:
Lochhaven, Lafayette Shores, Lakewood, Edgewater, Algonquin Park ,Meadowbrook, Larchmont, Ghent..

Mr. Williamsburg nailed it if you want downtown... but why not marry your love for the beach with a close to the bridge to Newport News and look at East Beach in Ocean View? Awesome views, awesome homes, really neat neighborhood.

In my opinion, Riverfront, in Suffolk is your best bet.

Are you were planning on renting or purchasing?
Are you planning on staying in the same home when the job moves to Newport News?
You have to go through a tunnel to get to Newport News(Hampton Roads, or the Monitor Merrimac). Commuting may take more than 1/2 hour depending on time of day and where you choose to live.
Just something to think about...

Default East Beach

Try the East Beach area of Norfolk, beautiful homes, it is the new urbanism, on the water, restaurants, plus it is a golf cart community.
