Feb 2016 Received ERT Toll Bill by mail; Apr 2016 paid toll bill plus fees; Jul 2016 received collections notice from Law Office of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson so I called the Law Office and spoke with Jason. I explained it had been paid back in April so he requested copies of receipt which I faxed over to him. So now it’s Aug 3, 2016 and today I find out that my drivers license is Suspended/Revoked. Found this out when I went to get a replacement license after misplacing my license on Monday. Reason for Suspension/Revocation is due to non payment of this toll bill. How utterly effing frustrating and inconvenient! Since July I’ve called ERT about 100 times and I even emailed them the payment receipt several times. Now I have no license due their screw up!! Is this company even real or is it a SCAM? What do I do in the meantime about my license (or lack thereof)???

If it were me, I'd sue Elizabeth River Crossings (ERC)

Dead serious.

Call a lawyer. You did everything you could possibly do.

This is beyond ridiculous to be having that problem in 2016.

Also, blast them on twitter: @DriveERT

Take note Liberals: Incompetent big government causing problems for the average citizen, yet again.

You're right, this is ridiculous in 2016. Heck, I'm even scared to drive now; with no license and especially with the tone of the general public and police officers. I really don't know what to freaking do at this point. Thank you for your reply/support.

Not surprised. This is the biggest scam going. I know somebody who paid them over $700 and is STILL being harassed and told they didn't pay.

And for the record, this "big government" deal was signed in by who? Oh, right. Bob McDonnell, Republican. An outstanding citizen who did nothing but good for the state.

Establishment Republicans like McDonnell are liberals as well.

I didn't say Democrats or Republicans, I said Liberals. There's very little difference between the two anymore.

Allowing a "private" company(although, let's be real, this is cronyism at its finest) to suspend drivers licenses is a socialist move, even if done by a Republican.

Also, the company that basically owns the tunnels, Skanska, mainly gives to Democrats:

This doesn't surprise me a bit. My relatives over there told me that a lot of people have had billing issues with ERC. Many people are avoiding the tunnels and are using alternate routes because of this mess.

Good luck with that. What are the damages? It would cost more than it's worth.

OP if I were you I would just go up there with a copy of your receipt. If that doesn't work call 10 on your side they love toll issue stories.

ETA: Best bet is to just get an ezpass. If you ever travel you'll need it.

That doesn't mean there still won't be problems. They've charged my EZ Pass AND sent me a bill. Then I have to take my time sending them my EZ Pass statement, highlighting the charge and then following up to make sure it's been taken care of.

Small claims court would be sufficient. That's not expensive at all.

If they were careless, and it caused harm to the OP in the form of his license being revoked, it's pretty obvious that he could sue for damages, including time he lost not being able to use his vehicle.

I'm no lawyer, but I'd sue, just to make a point.

Well, again, good luck with that. ERC has lawyers on payroll to take care of this sort of thing. The OP would have to be able to prove how much loss he/she actually suffered. I'm not sure how much loss of a car is worth, unless you save Uber receipts. Trust me when I say even if the OP could get a lawyer to take the case it would cost more than any award, in the off case the OP wins. The OP stands no chance without a lawyer.

Side note, not directed at anyone- When did we become a nation of lawsuit babies? Just because something goes wrong doesn't mean you get to file a lawsuit. Yes ERC is known to have billing issues, but I'm willing to bet not everyone claiming to have billing issues really did. Sure some people have had issues with them, but they have a hold on the area and no incentive to do better. If you don't want the hassle of dealing with them don't use the tunnel or make sure you have money on your ezpass.
