Hi, I'm moving from Newport News to another area in VA that has better middle schools. Does anyone know a reasonable area with decent schools? I will consider moving in all surrounding areas. My boyfriend is in the Military and is stationed in Newport News but I don't like the school my daughter is in. I will consider moving to VA Beach but not too far in. Please someone give me some advise!

Thanks
K

Have you considered York Co?

Trust me, you do NOT want to do a VA Beach to NN commute.

I can totally relate to you! We are zoned for horrible NN schools. We plan to move in a few years out of state (hopefully) so we plan to just pay for private school while we are in Newport News. Good luck on your search. I know York co. is supposed to have good schools but the housing is outrageous there. Sometimes I think it would be cheaper to pay for private rather than relocate there.

I hear Poquoson, James City Co. and Williamsburg City all have great schools. Hope this helps!

Default Middle Schools

I would say that one of the best middle schools that I know of is here in Williamsburg, VA. Berkley Middle school is a sought after middle school and I know many people in the area that are so unhappy with the other two middle schools, that they put their kids in private school. Which leads me to my other opinion. If you are willing to go the private school route, then Hampton Roads Academy is the way to go. It's actually not too unreasonable as far as price is concerned and they offer transportation to many local areas. Just an idea. Good luck, we are having the same trouble with our elementary school so I understand what you are going through.
