It's snowmageddon '18!

Everyone got your bread, milk, and toilet paper?

I grew up in New England, so I'm not worried by the weather itself, but I've lived in VB long enough to know it'll bring the area to its knees for a few days. PLEASE stay home if you don't absolutely have to be out. Even if you know how to drive in the ice/snow, so many people here don't that it gets crazy and dangerous on the roads very quickly!

Far as I know, my Hampton folks are ok. You are on the money about HR being on its knees for awhile.

Yeah there was not this panic over the snow like in the past. Residents generally prepared well this time. The key is that patience may start running thin if people's cars are still stuck in the same parking space by Sunday.

We had the large snow event last year on 1/17, remember, up to 12 inches. We had a few others, notably 12/26/10, again up to 12 inches. It seems these larger snow events are becoming a tad more common around here and folks are ramping up their snow mindsets.

My car is in the garage, where it has been since I got home Wednesday night. My patience is doing just fine.

Maybe it's just me but what's up with the city's not plowing roads down to the asphalt? The secondary roads I've been on in Virginia Beach and Norfolk are terrible. Seems like most roads were just skimmed over leaving a block of ice and jarring holes for you to drive on. The main highways and interstates are perfectly plowed. Perhaps the cities can't afford to? I may also be a little upset as I had a flat tire today and had to change it on the side of the interstate. /rant

VA Beach is horriable when it comes to plowing roads! Harris Teeter has the parking lot of a 90 degree summer day. It’s ridiculous, and they won’t resume trash collection until Tuesday with no make up days meaning if you missed Friday you won’t be picked up until Friday.

I don’t see how Schools will be open on Monday whit the roads like this.

Some people lost power. Other than that still annoyed about the roads but I've been here for a while I know the drill.

My cars have not moved since Wednesday. I have zero desire to unbury them. I'm sooo hopeful for school tomorrow to get my kids out, but I am not confident all side streets, especially in areas further out, will be clear enough to be safe for buses.
