There is a possibility I might get offered a job in Newport News and was wondering how the area is for singles? I hear there is a lot of military presence in the area and most of the women chase military guys. Not sure how accurate that is but thought I'd reach out to peeps in the area to see if the area has a decent amount of singles.

From what I remember , there are many more males in the area than females because of the military. You have to ask someone that lives there now. I know Newport News has some nice areas, and some very bad areas that are not safe.

The breakdown below is from Citi-Data. North NN is nice while the south can be very bad. There is a lot of industry to include shipbuilding and big companies like Liebherr. James City county, York County and Williamsburg are a bit north and are VERY nice.

Males: 86,438 (48.2%) Females: 92,787 (51.8%)
