Growing up, I lived in the Chesapeake neighbhorhood of South Norfolk for about one year. At the time, I picked up some cues that this apparently was a bad neighborhood. Looking back, I'm just curious to hear from locals of Hampton Roads what sort of reputation this neighborhood carries or has carried. Honestly, from what I remember, it really wasn't that bad. The worst thing I remember is that my neighbors liked to get drunk a lot and yell really loud in the middle of the night. But other than that, it seemed decent.

Uhh like 20 years ago? You got to be kidding me? I wish that was all down here in Norfolk people sitting on their porch getting drunk. I mean I am not trying to bring down a neighborhood but you know its to hard to get rid of a bad reputation. I read the news and watch the news. That gives me a good idea aside from people talking of whats going on in a particular area. People getting killed in a certain part = bad neighborhood to me. I wouldn't want to live there. To each his own though. You know like I said before, we all have to fit into our niche's. Sometimes its cultural thing, sometimes not. Sometimes who really know. That is it.
