He's gotta have a good job to get the credit history! He can go to school at night if he needs to and there are good entry jobs that will teach him a trade. There are many companies out there right now that offer full health/dental and vacations as well as retirement funds to invest in.

Why not join the military? Free healthcare, and if you go Navy you can pretty much stay in the area, and the G.I. benefits are undeniable. You can even just do the four years if you want, still get your G.I. benefits, finish school and come out with experience. It isn't for every one but if I was in your position, it is something I would strongly consider!

I wouldn't guarantee he will be staying in the area. The new ships are west coast based and the GW will be heading to Japan when her repairs are finished.
I would say join the Air Force! They consistantly have education program requirements for their personnel and nice bases. Our son is doing 4 years in Little Rock, AK and taking short trips on C130's to California every now and then. He's been in 2 different schools since boot camp and lives on base. In almost a year and a half, he's manage to save 10 grand. That's more than he's ever had in the bank at one time and he's learning financial responsibility. I have suggested to him that maybe he should buy a nice little car to get off base on the weekends, but that's like telling him to go buy new clothes. He's really come a long way and we are very proud of him. He got his networking degree through ECPI a couple years ago and could not get an entry level job. Stocking shelves at Foodlion for 8 dollars an hour was making it tough for paying rent and a school loan, so we went and talked to a recruiter. Probably the best choice he's made in his 23 years!
