Since I posted something about Elbow road on another posting (the haunting post), and since I drive by it every day on the way to work, have always wondering who owned all that empty land on Elbow road across from Stumpy Lake and/or if they ever have plans to develop it (please no more development!).

I had heard development was attempted but it was some environmental issue with it being a drainage area for Stumpy Lake, which is why it has sat essentially vacant for so long - however, don't know if that is true. Too bad they can't build a motocross/trials course/park back there instead...

Empty land where exactly? I know there is a bald eagle nest that prevents development near the "dam". Personally living very close to the area I don't want to see it developed.

Isn't that part of whatever the road connecting Chesapeake to wherever the hell it is they want to connect it to? What's the name of that oft-mentioned highway, Spazkat? Silly thing has been in the works for years but never seems to move forward.

Wynternight, I think it's called the Green Expressway? Are you talking about what was supposed to connect Great Bridge to VA Beach courthouse?

I agree with Spazkat. Elbow road is a nice drive to waste some time in the fall or early spring, particularly around Stumpy lake.

A lot of the land off of Elbow is owned by Blackwater AKA "Xe". I wouldn't recommend trespassing on it.

Not sure which one you're talking about. There are so many planned, but never to be completed road projects in the area sigh.... The only one I can think of is the Chesapeake expressway, but that was finally finished.
