I am thinking of moving to Virginia. I met some residents from there over the holidays and they were speaking well of that area. What is it like? How far is it from Norfolk? Where can I find some good pictures of the community there? Thanks for anyone's help.

It's a great community to live in if you like a more rural area. My in laws live there in a small neighborhood on the water. They love it. Had had enough of the Big City life in Richmond VA. Homes are quite reasonable price-wise compared to other areas. You can buy waterfront homes there with navigable access for low $ compared to other localities. They have a Wal Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Farm Fresh and Food Lion. They come to Newport News for Costco, Target and other retailers. They also travel to Williamsburg or Newport News for certain medical specialist. Cute little Main Street area with a market, few restaurants , shops, etc. Lots of waterfront areas, access, etc.
They live past the courthouse/ main street area. It's about a 25 minute drive to Williamsburg or Newport News. If you visit try Olivia's Restaurant ( great food) afterwards go to Short Lane Ice Cream. ( best Ice Cream around !)

My son and his wife have lived there for 15+ years and they love it there. They are active in their church (Newington Baptist) and have made many faithful and loving friends there. I have been there and I loved it there and the small, everybody knows everybody, family atsmosphere.

I lived in Gloucester for 2 years before moving to the even more rural northern neck. Gloucester is safe, has decent schools, and is about a half hour from Williamsburg and Newport News. The people are friendly and there is a lot for families to do there.

Default daycare in Gloucester

We are going to be moving to Gloucester as well. Does anyone know if there is a need for daycare in Gloucester? That is what I do.
