The way our weather has been, a carriage ride might not be a good idea. Do a limo to the restaurant. As in another thread where we discuss food, there are several nice, non franchise places.
Steinhilbers at Thalia (casual dress)
Alexanders on the bay (dress only, no jeans and stuff like that.)

We went to One Fish, Two Fish in VB several yrs. ago for Valentine's Day and it was really nice. It is on the water and the food was awesome! I think they had a set menu for the occasion but that might have changed. The atmosphere was really nice for a romantic night out!

Yes, it's a bit unique and has that California atmosphere. It's on W. Great Neck Road. The view is nice too.

Default Upping This One

I came across this one and wanted to re-open the discussion.

Anyone got any recommendations for a good place to eat that isn't in that upper-tier price range. My Valentine's budget is going over the salary cap at a rapid pace. I'm not talking "dollar menu", lol, just not quite $40 entree.

Thanks y'all.

Croakers or Steinhilbers..that's all I can offer you at this time. Both have great food and reasonably priced. Steinhilbers has a rustic dining atmosphere on the water...rather romantic for the occasion.

Steinhilbers, as Erma keeps pushing, IS like $40 an entree (check the menu online if you want). If I were you, Id stick with one of the higher end chains. You can escape a place like Cheesecake Factory under $40 for two people. At a place like Steinhilbers, you likely wont get out under $100. The problem with these "Mom and Pop" fancy restaurants is that you have to mortgage every thing you own to go to one. Then, people have the nerve to complain that the only thing around is chain restaurants.....gee, I wonder why.

No, Steinhilbers "as I keep pushing" doesn't have entre's for 40.00! Don't know what menu you were looking at, but they have a whole side from 27.95 with salad, side and rolls. Stay away from the franchises...make it special! http://www.steinys.com/

Default thanks

I appreciate the timely advice from both parties. My google searches have left me with question marks.

So anybody got any good ideas for through-out-the-day scenery. You know, the stuff before dinner. A walk on the beach is obvious, just wondering if there is a "hidden waterfall" or etc around here. I'm definitely trying to do something different and memorable, hence my deep research.

Thanks once again.

Norfolk botanical gardens is nice in the spring and summer. I'm not sure about this time of year though.
