It's well into tax season and I thought I'd see what the verdict was on here. If you don't do your own taxes, who do you take them to?? We are new to the area and don't know who to trust w/ that sort of thing. Any suggestions good/bad would be great. Thanks!

My hubby and i are also new to the area but we went to HR block. We had taxes from three different states, got married, and had a baby. So it was just easier to go there.

We use Jackson Hewitt at Aragona. They are very good, especially if you have alot of deductions! My other tax lady passed away last year after 20 years of service. She was awesome, may she RIP.

My Dad works at HR Block every tax season, so I go to him.

I go to the AARP Tax AIDE at the library in Williamsburg. I think they are all over the area though. Its not just for seniors. They'll take anyone as long as your taxes aren't too complex. ie. own mulitple businesses or having rental properties.

Plan to spend some time but its free and they do a better job than H&R who I've found makes a lot of mistakes.

Our return is complicated and we have always used Turbo Tax-rather do it ourselves at no cost-never had any problems-we don't use the basic Turbo Tax-but still very easy.

Used Turbo Tax for the last five years. Seems easy and prompts you to consider different types of deductions.

Jason Call in Chesapeake has been very prompt and reasonably priced for me the past two years, dealing with some mildly complicated matters.

Rebecca Reyes had prepared our income tax returns for the last 10 years. Very reasonable professional service fee, does fixed income earners and business tax returns. Have referred several people to her for the past nine years. Her office phn nbr: 757-588-5332.

Hello everyone, this question for Turbo Tax users.
I got $40 penalty fee at the end of the calculation while doing my federal tax return.
I do not understand why? We owe some money - but we will pay them before the April 15.
Any ideas?
