I miss VA Beach food! I loved Captain George's when I lived there! God bless.

Yea, it was great back in the day, but more touristy now and the price of the buffet has gone up. We used to take family there when they'd visit, but prefer Croakers moreover for the seafood and excellent crab cakes.

StayTuned,

I don't have any Indian food suggestions, but I do have a couple of Mexican places for you. Have you tried Cozumel? El Tap was our family fave before Cozumel opened, now it's Cozumel. In addition to yummy food, they give you one free kids' meal per adult entree on Sundays and Wednesdays. My personal fave Mexican place to go sans kids is Gringo's at the Ocean front.

Lonestar Steakhouse has by far the best steak, imo, as far as chain restaurants go. They have their kids eat free night on Tuesday nights. You get 2 kids' meals (and they even have steak on their kids' menu) per adult entree. They must cringe when they see my family coming. LOL.

Other local faves... Margie and Ray's on Sandbridge Rd. for seafood in a very casual setting. Zia Marie's for Italian and their pomegranate martinis. )

The only restaurant I liked when I lived in Virginia Beach was Azars Mediterranean Cuisisne.

I just walked in there this weekend and the cigarette smoke was overwhelming!! What a shame - they do have good food, but so many people won't go in there with that smoke.

Bummer about the smoke. That would be a definite turn off for me. I haven't had a problem with that at Margie and Ray's. My family and I moved here from RI where smoking in restaurants is not allowed. We never could get used to that here.

I have never even heard of Azar's. I may have to check it out.

On December 1st, all Virginia restaurants and bars will be required to go smoke-free, unless they have a seperate, closed off smoking section with its own ventillation system.

Really? Because you AREN'T allowed to smoke in there! That's why the table and ashtrays are outside. We stop in to eat every now and then and I've never seen anyone smoking in there.
