Which area would you recommend for my family?
--I am not a beach fan, prefer swimming pools over the ocean. So being close to the beach isn't a priority.
--I do have three kids ages 12, 8, and 5 so I am looking for a family neighborhood. I am spoiled here where my kids go outside and there are kids outside playing up and down the street and throughout the neighborhood.
--I don't want to be close to the mall, but would like to be near a grocery store/Walmart...like 10-15 minutes away.
--We love nature trails, streams, great parks. I love the colors of autumn. I dislike the city life of skyscrapers and lots of traffic. Entertainment to me is craft fairs, a movie, parks, camping, ATVing, and bird watching.

DH will be working at Langley as a civilian and I am hoping to land a SPED teaching job. Everything I have read thus far indicates if you are under 30, you will hate it there. Well, I am 31 so I would like it?? I am assuming you are implying the single scene and night scene is tough. My night scene usually indicated baths, bedtime stories, and dishes so no worry there.

go to Williamsburg, it seems to match your criteria more than va beach. Plus, your spouse is at Langley, so no tunnel to cross

Well I grew up in VA Beach and now live in Williamsburg so I should be able to answer:
Which area would you recommend for my family?

We live in a neighborhood with tons of kids. Over 100 on the neighborhood swim team. Friday nights you will find quite a few at the pool eating pizza and partying. Lots of events for kids throughout the year.
We don't have a mall but do have a Wal Mart, Two Targets, Many Outlet and Grocery Stores and Trader Joes. ( No Whole Foods )

Lots of nature trails and parks. Only you can decide if you will like it. It's sort of like a modern day ' Mayberry"

LOL, I guessed that would be your vote! I have a friend who is stationed here in Colorado Springs who thinks we would like VA Beach instead. However, she hasn't been there for a few years. I am leaning towards Williamsburg too...
I am also going through CO withdraws...I have always loved it here with the mountains. Are HOAs so strict that we will have an issue bringing our trampoline? We have a commercial quality trampoline that the kids love and I know in some of our newer neighborhoods they aren't allowed. Same story there?

It just depends on the neighborhood. We have one and it is allowed.
