There was a discussion regarding crab cakes in the Pizza thread so I thought it deserved its own thread. So where are the best crab cakes in town? I have to admit, being new to the area, I'm rather disappointed. For me, the best crab cakes (and tuna steaks for that matter) I've ever tried were at a place called Barbara Jeans in Jacksonville, FL...absolutely amazing. You get so much food for a great price. Apparently I need to go to Maryland for great crab cakes. Surf Rider crab cakes were disappointing. Any suggestions?

Croakers is the only place I will order them. You can actually taste the crab without all the fillers.

The best crabcakes in the area are at Chuckamucks in Rescue - Isle of Wight.
A little out of the way, but worth the drive.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm closer to Croakers and have heard good things about that place so I'll try that one first.

I'm not even sure if it still there, but Ship's Cabin in Ocean View used to have the best. Croaker's is good, also Hot Tuna used to make the best tuna in town.

ships cabin is long gone. Judy Boone built in that area. Hot Tuna IMO isn't all that for what they charge.

Try Clayton's in P'town on Hodges Ferry Road for an excellent crab cake. Also, try the soft crabs!!

I wish I had found city data sooner. I don't have time to try out all these places! Aaaah! I may be able to squeeze in Croakers before we move.

I went to Chick's Oyster Bar for the first time last Friday and was wondering why I never went there before. We just went for drinks in the afternoon and really enjoyed the water view and relaxed atmosphere. Funny I thought of Erma while I was there... I think this place is in her neck of the woods. )
