My husband has accepted a job in Norfolk. We have 8 rescued/foster dogs. Also one child in high school. We would like to buy a house with a few acres and where our dogs would be accepted. Our dogs are inside dogs, all altered, and we would of course have a large portion of the land fenced for them.

Your best bet would be on the outskirts of Chesapeake. Maybe Hickory, which is a little rural.

Parts of Suffolk would work in terms of the dogs, now schools....dicey. In Chesapeake you would still be limited to 4 I think unless you get a kennel license and I don't know how hard that would be to get. If you didn't mind a drive Windsor is a good choice.

I have been looking at Windsor. I grew up in a small Illinois farm town with a population of 750 people. From the photos Windsor seems to have that small town feel. Are the people open and friendly as in most small towns?

I really like Windsor! It is small though.... one grocery store a few small restaurants. You would drive to Suffolk or Franklin to go to "town".

Pungo is a great place its a va beach adress but has great schools a small downtown great schools but only a 40-45 minute drive to norfolk affordable NEAR TIDEWATER COMMUNTITY COLLEGE 10-20 MIN AWAY

I don't know about dog limits, but North Suffolk, Isle of Wight and Carrollton are rural, yet close to shopping. The Tidewater Community Campus is in North Suffolk - right at the Monitor Merrimac Bridge. Also, there is another CC in Newport News (Thomas Nelson) that is within 15-20 min.
