I will be relocating to VA from Chicagoland and will be overseeing some restaurants in Norfok/VA Beach area as well as Richmond and Colonial Heights and am in need of some suggestions of some good places (cities, neighborhoods, or even specific apt communities) to start looking for an apartment/rental house in between these areas. I'm looking for something safe, around $1000 a month or less for 1 bedroom apt, and fairly close to the highway (anywhere along 64 would be good). It's a pretty wide open canvas so any suggestions you all have would be greatly appreciated so I can say goodbye to Chicago winters!!!

the obvious choice would be williamsburg....you would be 45 mins to an hour from Richmond/Colonial Heights and the same time and distance to Norfolk/VB. Would you be commuting to both areas equally? Check out New Town and High Street for some new construction rentals in williamsburg

Thanks Damian! I will look into those areas, I will be splitting my time pretty evenly between the 2 areas. All the locations are as follows, Norfolk, Va Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Col. Heights, & NW Richmond (2 locs) if that helps with any additional thoughts. Thanks again!

New Town and High Street will be a little more than $1000. Here are links to the apartment sites.
