The situation is this, I am a 28 yr old female I live in upstate NY,I have 3 small kids and I own a small cleaning service. Next year [June 2010] I plan to take a huge risk and move my family and business to VB. What I really need is a friend or two in VB. Someone who can show me around and share helpful info. We did visit once in April, and I plan to return 2nd wk in AUG. I prefer to meet someone with small kids also, and a positive attitude about life in general. I don't have many friends here in NY mainly because I don't meet many people like me, so I am really hopeing to meet some friends in VB.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

I would really do some research on the demographics of this region before bringing and supporting 3 kids here. There may be other places along the coast with a more affordable cost of living....Good luck to you.

I think this is a decent place to live. We have milder winters, close to the beach - and COL is not horrible. We have even weathered the recession much better than alot of places. I do not have young children anymore, but I am sure you will find friends here thru places like the YMCA and school.

To get here from NY you first head south on 95...

But seriously, I am a transplant and am moving to NOVA after 25 years here. Great place to raise kids, but I tend to think the COL is better elsewhere, Morehead City, Wilmington, et al.

I would start with these forums and see if there are support groups, Churches, whatever is your interest and start talking to them. Going blind into a new city you know nothing about is no fun.
