Hi ! Hoping someone can help me out. I am moving to Newport News in August, and would like to know what are some good areas. I have an 8 year old son. We will be in the Kiln Creek area. Are there decent apt complexes in that area? If not, can you suggest some.
Thanks in advance!

Kiln Creek has some good apartment complexes within the development, I dont know the name of them however. Anything around that area, down Oyster Point towards Jefferson Ave is fine.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago and a site called peninsulamommies.com really helped me out with choosing an apartment. I know there are members who live in Kiln Creek and could offer some suggestions. Good luck!

i just started working in Newport News last month. From my observation, I would not consider NN a good place to raise a son. Is there any particular reason your looking at NN?

Its all relative...I am raising a son here in NN, and it is just fine. and if you live in Kiln Creek, you are basically in York County anyways

i wouldn't want to raise children anywhere in hampton roads. but if it has to be newport news, kiln creek is a little oasis away from the bs.

My mother raised a son in Hampton Roads and considering i've never been in trouble with the law and am two years from graduating college i say Hampton Roads did me fine.

As for the OP, Kiln Creek is good, also take a look at Falcon Creek Apts in Hampton just down the road and look really hard in York County (you cant beat the schools there.)

Kiln Creek is one of the few very nice pockets in NN. Probably the best (and most expensive) neighborhood in the city in my opinion, only thing to worry about is that EVERYONE in the city knows this, so it can be a place targeted for house robberies, to the point to where they have found thugs riding all the way from east end over there looking for bait. I personally know two people who have had house robberies. I dont mean to scare, just want to show you both sides, but for the most part people jog around there LATE at night and are A ok, you'll be fine but its not a "leave your garage door open" place, but really nowhere in newport news is. Just be smart.

I believe the Kiln Creek apartments are on the NN side. If possible, I would really try to live on the York county side of Kiln Creek just because of the schools.
