Are there any real barber shops left? I don't really want to say a "men's only" place, but... well...

Hot towels... warm lather shaving cream... straight razor... clippers... you know... stuff like that.

I don't want a salon or boutique... just a barber shop.

Maybe one where all the soldiers go. I just really need a clipper job. Not designs in my hair or color or whatever.

Just a barber shop.

Know any place like that in Newport News or Smithfield area?

There's one in Hampton by the King street gate of Langley my dad likes. I'm not sure if they are exactly what you want. My husband goes to one exactly like you're describing on Shore Dr. in VA Beach.

We were at a barber shop near Wal Mart on 17. I was shocked to find females working in there. They assured me they really are barbers. They did a great job on darling son's hair. Much better than the other places around do. But I've yet to find a barber shop with males.

I found one. On J Clyde, across the street from the Point Plaza Suites. In a little strip a couple of doors down from the 7Eleven. These same two guys have been manning the chairs there for 37 years. Warm shaving cream, straight razor back-of-the-neck shave, sports on tv, 37 years worth of stuff hanging on the walls. Haircut - $12. A man's barbershop. YES.
