My husband and I are first-time homebuyers and are about to put a bid on a house in First Colony. Does anyone know anything about the neighborhood or where I might find information? It seems nice, but I want to be sure.

You can explore their Home Owners Association website here (http://www.greaterfirstcolony.org/home.html - broken link). Great community with homes priced from the. In the last 12 months home prices ranged from $225k to $415k. The homes on the James River tend to go for $ 1 million plus. They have a voluntary home owners association that is very active, many family events thru the year. A clubhouse, playground, pool, marina, picnic area are all available to members of the HOA. You might want to check to see if the home requires flood insurance. Some of the neighborhood is in a flood zone. All in all a wonderful neighborhood.

If you have kids, this would be a great placed to live. I went to HS in Williamsburg, and had many friends who lived there.
