Was wondering if anyone on here lives in Independence Square townhomes, and if so, do you like it? Are the walls thick enough that you don't hear your next door neighbors? Any replies appreciated!

I have a friend that lives there. They are pretty nice. The living room, kitchen and bedrooms are a decent size(good for a single/small family). The 1/2 bath is kinda tight. The walls are thin just like all older townhouses/apartments, if you have quiet neighbors you should be ok. Its hard to get in there, there is usually a 6 - 12 month waiting list.

Um, i'm glad you say your friend's place is nice. I hope her place doesn't look like their model apartment.

I read the 2 great reviews of this place, so my husband and I went to look at a model. Before we did, I called them on the phone to ask if any were available. They said not until the fall, but she wasn't sure when because they had no vacate notices. She said I had to submit an application and do a credit check for $10 to be put on the waiting list. Ok, so it seems they don't really need to show or rent out these places since they are full. So we went in person to see the model. Went into "office", older lady gave us the key to go look at the model ourself. Wow, great customer service. Ok, so we walk in this place, and I mean, is this a joke? There were dead bugs everywhere, the kitchen was from the 60's, the fridge handle was broke off, the dishwasher bottom was broke off, the tub and shower upstairs were OLIVE GREEN, the walls had water stains and the place smelled like mold. I had to take my inhaler when I left. Are they trying to deter people from moving there? I mean come on, sweep the dead bugs up, paint the walls upstairs, fix the doors that you have removed off most of the closets, etc. That would take one day to do. I guess they don't care. I'm sure the residents take care of their places better than management does. I guess all they have going for them is the price ($799), but personally, that model just reminded me of where old people go to live and die. Super depressing. I'd rather live in a cheery one bedroom apartment than live at that depressing 2 bedroom townhouse!

Wow! Well, It has been a few years since I was actually there. I guess that explains why they are only 799.00

I lived there for over 8 years. I moved out in the summer of 2009. Unfortunantly I was there for so long that my unit was never remodeled until I moved out. Both my neighbors on either side of me moved in after the unit was remodeled and I have to say it looked great. Maintenance was always ready to fix what I needed unless it was a weekend then it took a little longer. My appliances were standard but where not as old as the model unit. I requested new carpet before I moved in and got it. My dishwasher was replaced once with a new upgraded unit and my wash and dryer was new. There was no crime to mention of. I raised my 2 boys there from the time they were 4 and 9 until they were 12 and 17. The utility bills were so cheap that I was able to live comf. for a little over $1000.00 a month. I moved in when rent was at $525 and left at $725. It is close to everything. They do a really good job of credit check and very strict with the rent when it is due. They do not hesitate to get a lawyer involved if they do not receive the rent on time. I always felt safe living there knowing that they screen the people really well. Sure, it is not state of the art and is not modern but for the price including most utility, convenience, and a safe location it is a place that obviously most people enjoy considering they do not leave! Trust me they are not there to collect dust and cobwebs contrary to what another message stated. It is comfertable, nice enough for the money. Hope this helps.

Horrible management, horrible maintenance, horrible apartments with crouches running around and getting into your food all the time. Stay away...save your money!
