Hi folks,
I'm new to Virginia Beach/Norfolk and am looking for a church that is accepting and loving toward gay people. I live off of Indian River Road and I 64 so I am pretty centrally located.
I was blessed to have attended a Methodist church in Atlanta that was ready to close it's doors till it reached out to gay people. Now it's membership is huge and ministries thriving. I would prefer not to be one of 4 gay people in a church nor would I want a church that is all gay. I hope to strike a balance in the gay/straight membership. More importantly I need them to a Christ centered church. I was surprised that Richmond has several churches to choose from, a few that were even Baptist.
Please only responses that honestly answer the above question. I do not want to open a debate about this issue. If you are a Christian and disagree with my position please act as one and turn the other cheek. I believe we should love one another despite our deference in theology.

Here's a link to a site called gaychurch.org. I don't know how reliable it is, or if that means these churches are predominantly gay, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to check it out. It's alphabetical, so the churches in Virginia Beach are towards the bottom. Hope this helps!

UCC (United Church of Christ) is usually very gay friendly and there is one in Va Beach, but I can't remember where as it has been about 6 years since I lived in the area. You can check out ucc.org

We attend Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church (UCC) off of Great Neck Rd. You can Google us and find the website. We have many gay couples and singles...very welcoming and open congregation! Come check us out! Services are at 10am Sunday mornings. :-) Welcome to the area!
