How is the demand for ESL teachers in Hampton Roads? Which schools have good ESL programs? Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages of teaching ESL in this area?

I don't think the demand is very high in Hampton Roads, you might have better luck in Northern VA

Biggest demand may be during the summer months when several foreigners come into the area using student visas and work visas to work the summer jobs. I heard that William & Mary runs an ESL program for the Williamsburg area on certain nights.

I'm not sure what the salary is, but you may want to check out the online ESL program:

I did read an article that said that ESL was growing in demand in the Hampton and Newport News public school systems. But I can't really say that there will be that much demand.

Northern VA has much more of a demand like rtandc said but I wouldn't try living there on a teacher's salary.
