I simply refuse to spend $50 for a tree. But I went out last night and that was about the cheapest I found for a decent sized one.

Where is your favorite place for a reasonably priced tree? Other than cutting it down yourself of course!

Well, I just go to the spare bedroom, pull out the old plastic tree, and there you go! Its flame retardant, and I think it cost me $50 5 years ago, and will probably last at least another 5. $5 a year.

Nowadays, most of the trees you can unfold like an umbrella. Its really something. 7 ft trees that come in boxes that are about 4 ft long and 1 feet wide by 1 feet high. It doesnt even seem like they sell the old standard 5.5-6ft long box that is 2.5 feet high and wide. I just stood there staring at them at Walmart for about 10 minutes. If only they came up with this years ago!

You can have your fake tree.

I prefer the real ones. I'll try again tonight...I think Lowe's might have some.

There are several tree farms in the area that allow you to choose the tree, but then they cut it and wrap it for you. Check out this site:

Where in Southeastern Virginia to find choose-and-cut Christmas tree farms, pre-cut trees, stands, sleigh rides, hay rides and related winter events and fun!

Yeah last year was the lowest I've seen. They are up a little this year - I'm surprised. But I got a nice one at Lowe's...for just a couple bucks more than last year.
