I just recently moved to Norfolk from Colorado. In the next week or so, I'll be plating my vehicle here. Could anyone explain to me about the property tax & how much I possibly will have to pay? I'm aware I won't have to pay any sales tax, but have never come across having to pay property tax when plating a vehicle.

Is there a website where I can caculate how much I will have to pay?

Thanks.

I depends on the value of your car. In Norfolk the tax rate on vehicles is $4.25 per $100 of assessed value. The Virginia provides tax relief on 56% of the assessed value of qualifying vehicles.

So if you have a $20,000 car the cost would be $374. It will decrease as the value of your car decreases annually
