Need Help With a Business License... (Chesapeake: purchase, taxes, money)

I decided to start to work from home...I do some tutoring and translations as well as some Personal Assistant stuff. Im very optimistic and need to do things the right way.

Im looking for info about what fees are, etc for getting a business license, so I can open a bank account and pay taxes on the money this has been bringing in.. Ive searched and what Ive found was SOOO confusing. There's one site I was directed to that didnt work, and another that totally confused me as to what type of business Im doing. Im nomally pretty coherent and can follow stuff, but this is confusing to me..

I will call the Municipal Bldg in the morning and find out exactly what I need to bring with me..Looks like I have to pick a business name and see if its available? I want to make sure Im prepared when I go, I dont want to drag this out longer than I have to!

when you set up your bank account, do it with your name and "trading as" or "T/A" under it. This way, when you are paid and you deposit, it's much easier whether they pay you by name or by business. In my line, I accept purchase orders and invoice my customers for payment.
