Hardwood floor companies? (homes, purchasing, construction)

Hi, we are moving to the area and closing on a house.
We are installing hardwood floors in 2 rooms of the house.

We're looking at Lowe's and Lumber Liquidators for purchasing the floors. Any advice on these companies? Would we be better off going with an independent?
We have a contractor doing some painting and such. But now I'm questioning who should install the floors. Is it generally better to hire independently or use Lowe's/LL installers?

LL's has better prices on floors then Lowes.

I personally would do a floating hardwood and do it myself. If you have a saw, and are at least a little handy you shouldn't have any problems. Labor is what's going to drive the price way up.

Be careful whomever you hire, if you do go that route. Contractors around here do shoddy work and like to cut corners.

I've been to many construction and remodel sites that would wake you up in a cold sweat. Between urinating in the homes, throwing trash behind walls then sealing them up, and craftsmanship that would even make one of those flunkies on HGTV shudder, well, let's just say you need to keep an eye on them.

I suggest Strickland Floors. We have beautiful hardwood floors installed by them. Their hardwood guy is top of the line.

That's the norm with builders. You should go on the ships when their being overhauled in the shipyards. Must be a guy thing, cuz I've found many water bottles filled with urine in sailors' berthing areas.
