So I really wanna go see DMB this summer but I'm too poor to buy a seat. Thought it'd be nice to get a cheapo lawn ticket...33 bucks didn't seem too bad til I got ready to checkout and it wound up being 52 bucks!!!! WTF! $7 facility charge and $12.53 'convenience' charge...this is getting crazy!! It's always been bad but now they're getting worse. Anyway, has anyone tried buying tickets at the box office?? Is that cheaper? I live close to the amphitheater so believe me, it's much more 'convenient' for me to drive there (and spend 50 cents in gas) if that will get me out of the extra charge. Sorry for the tirade, concert going is one of my favorite things and the cost is getting out of hand!!

Dave is amazing at the Amp! So jealous...I can't see them this year and I always try to catch a show no matter where I live.

BTW.....I always had much more fun when I had lawn seats.

For concerts, I never get a seat. I either get pit tickets if it's a band I really, really, really want.. or I get lawn tickets.

As for that convenience charge, I'm not sure if they charge it at the box office. You could try calling?

I'm pretty sure part of those extra fees are for parking. You will pay that at the box office or online. If you buy them in person though you will not pay the service fees.

I try to avoid Ticketmaster whenever possible. See a show at the boot or somewhere else instead. I can't believe people are dumb enough to pay extra to print their own tickets. When I have to go TicketMaster I generally buy them in person to try to cut down some of the fees.

But yea, it's a monopoly, and it's rough to see people complaining about it while actually supporting them.

The only way to eliminate them is to fight them.

Haha, I have to admit I do too, especially for a Dave concert!!!! But one day I'd love to have enough money to buy some front-row tickets

Yes, I believe it is cheaper at the box office. I think you avoid Ticketmaster's direct fees but you won't avoid the automatic parking charge and/or "convenience charge" the amphitheater adds.

I rarely go there, though, so I am not sure. However, I know by buying tickets for The Norva at Kelly's Backstage, you only have like a $1 or $2 additional charge instead of the enormous Ticketmaster charge.
