Hi Neighbors-to-be:
How bad is the commute from Hickory to Norfolk (am/pm)?

We will be relocating to the Chesapeake area next month and have identified a house in the Hickory area of Chesapeake as a target because of the better school district ( as per advices from this forum and web checks). I will be working in the Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Google says it is 25 minutes on 21 miles but that does not count traffic congestion.

What do you think?

Thanks, MCR

It really depends where you are in Hickory.... but if you go 464 it should normally take about 30-40 minutes in general.

I live in Hickory (way down close to N.C.) and work in Ghent (near EVMS). I hop right on the bypass and that joins 464 right into town. It takes 20 minutes to get there, and another 5-10 minutes into Ghent (traffic). But watch out for the Berkeley Bridge openings, you have to time around them.
