Hey guys. What are the major grocery store chain in Norfolk, Va Beach, and Chesapeake?

Are there any whole foods or things like that?

Trader Joe's, Bloom, Kroger, Farm Fresh, Food Lion, Bottom Dollar, Super Wal-Mart and several specialty grocers. Basically no matter your budget or type of food you like you can find a grocery store here.

ETA: VAB has a nice farmers market too. Not sure about Chesapeake of Norfolk though.

No Whole Foods yet but several thousand people have started a facebook group to try and bring them to Hampton Roads.

The place would be absolutely slammed. The Trader Joes in VA Beach can't keep the shelves stocked, they are literally bare by the end of the day.

Fresh Market is the closest thing to Whole Foods here, in my opinion. Also, check out The Heritage.

I think Food Lion and their discount chain Bottom Dollar is the most dominant chain in the area, although Farm Fresh and Kroger have a very strong presence. After that, you'll find a few Harris Teeters and some other stores with one or just a couple locations.

lol I haven't heard of half of these. It should be fun figuring out which one I like the best! Then again, I'm kind of a dork and actually enjoy grocery shopping.

So does my BH, that's why he doesn't go shopping with me. I have a list, get what's on it and scram! The farmers markets are getting their summer produce. We had sweet corn this evening from Cromwell farms in Sandbridge and it was awesome!

I've heard a lot about farmer's market but never have been. How are the prices for fresh produce at FM and some of these other places mentioned?

Much better than the grocery stores. The vegetables taste so much better.
