I bet there are apartments very near that location. Such as within a mile or two.

I hope when you are visiting York and Marietta you visit Lancaster too. If you go explore the neighorhood work is in, you may find that you like that neighborhood very much and find that there is no need to waste any time apartment hunting in York.

Near the Lancaster Cemetary & 6th Ward Park (i.e. New Holland Avenue south of the railroad tracks) is not a good area, though. You're from D.C. I'm sure you know how to recognize a bad neighborhood.

If you're working in Lancaster, I'd recommend living downtown or just outside the city as other posters have mentioned. It has a great urban vibe, but it's still small.

I live downtown and we walk everywhere. But if you want a pool, you won't find it in the city. You'll need to look outside.

I would not recommend living in York at all, especially if you're working in Lancaster. Lancaster has so much more to offer in the way of arts, culture, dining, shopping and things to do, in general. Like others mentioned, there's not much of a nightlife, though, so if you like clubs and that kind of scene, you'll need to head to Philly, Baltimore, or maybe Harrisburg (but the clubs there are sort of seedy). Lancaster has nice pubs, bars, lounges and restaurants for going out on weekends.

Feel free to ask me other questions and good luck with your move!

I agree, no York. I would never live in York. I think you would be much better off living closer to Overlook Park. IT has a great pool, best public golf course in Lancaster, County, A brand new, ultra modern library, miniture golf, wonderful bike trails, jogging trails etc. Also soccer fields, dog park and nice shopping within 5 minutes. So, I would go with the Overlook Park area. IT's much nicer than Longs Park, though Longs park is nice, just not enough to do there. You would be 5-10 minutes from town and your work.
