I'm planning a trip to the Harrisburg area in the spring and would like to know if the Days Inn at 3919 N. Front St. is in a safe neighborhood? I realize it's kinda far from the downtown area, but it's near public transit, and the downtown hotels I looked into were a little on the expensive side. Thanks in advance for any info!

It's not in a bad neighborhood, but some of the hotels up that way are frequently in the paper for prostitution busts. Not sure if this is one of "the regulars" or not.

I think there is a Comfort Inn also with an Indian restaurant attached (Passage to India).... which is pretty good, on 525 S. Front Street.

That block of North Front Street is well out into suburban Susquehanna Township north of I-81. It's not a ghetto area but a commercial strip that backs up to middle-class detached homes, not the inner city. Would recommend checking ratings of the hotel itself.

To be honest it's kind of a slummy strip and there has been some notable drug/prostitution busts. But I think with common sense you'll be absolutely fine.

Thanks for all the responses. I won't rule out the Days Inn but will also look into the Hampton Inn on Union Deposit Rd. as well as the Country Inn/Suites. My first choice would've been to stay somewhere on the West Shore, but don't know how convenient the public transit would be.
