Does anyone remember the Curtis Electro Lighting Corporation that once had an office in Reading PA? They made electric fixtures in the early 1960s. I think they went bankrupt abut 30-35 years ago, does anyone have any other information regarding what happened to this company and why they disappeared?

Thank You

I have a 1969, Curtis Electro Lighting,Model 2401DW. It is a light show in a bookshelf speaker sized box. It has a plastic prismatic front, plugs into 120VAC, and hooks to speaker output. Lights vary in brightness and flashing depending on volume, i.e. amp output. The convertor box inside has a burned resistor and is not identifiable. Does any one know anything about these? A schematic is probably to much to hope for, but any info would be helpful!!! Thanks, Kirk

Default Curtis-Electro Lighting

I also have a pair of functioning Model 2401DW Audio-Lites that I bought in 1969 from Montgomery Wards. I haven't taken them apart yet, but I can do so to see if I can get the values of the components that you need to repair your units. It will be a little while before I can do this, but just as soon as I do I will post the information that you need.

I was one of the two original investment that brought Curtis Electro public, Now that you have triggered my memory I was the person who named the company Curtis Electro, They manufactured lighting fixtures and a consumer range. The management was controlled by Phil Litner and his two brothers. They were quite capable. The company went public around 1960. Hope this is of interest to you,
Jerome Castle
