I'm starting a new job in South York, but depending on where my SO ends up getting a job (Philly or Baltimore), we are considering living in Lancaster. We did the drive this past weekend which seemed ok (~20 minutes), but I'm curious how it would be during the morning/evening commuter rush during the weekdays? Also, how would it compare to a reverse commute up from the Maryland border (which would be my other option).

You'll hit typical rush-hour traffic on Route 30, especially as you get closer to York and Lancaster. Also, I assume you mean York-to-Lancaster took about 20 minutes. Lancaster is about 90 minutes from both Baltimore and Philly. If you took that in 20 minutes, I'll be impressed!
