I have an opportunity to work in this area. But I have few questions about this place.
1. How much chances there can be floods in this area near the river. Should I rent away from the river? There are many opportunities to rent, do you have suggestions.
2. I am interested in SE asian food and grocery. Any ideas about the stores in this area. Sounds stupid question? where 95% are Caucasian?

3. How people accept foreigner here? not many immigrants i can think of I can talk or think of right? Is this place too much to tolerate?

please reply

Hello,

Danville is prone to occasional flooding, but as I recall, most of it happens in the downtown areas adjacent to the river. There are elevated sections of the town that do not flood.

That part of the state is largely ethnically and racially homogenized. When people in that area talk about "cultural diversity", they mean that their great-grandparents were German and their neighbor's great-grandparents were Italian.

Do you mean you want to open a SE Asian grocery, or you are looking for a SE Asian grocery? If you plan to open one, I say go for it. The area could use some more exposure to different culture. However, you will most likely be marketing mostly to people unfamiliar with your products, so bear that in mind. People in that area are also somewhat resistant to change.

If you're looking to find an existing SE Asian grocery, I don't believe there are any in the area.

You may have better luck in one of the surrounding cities, such as Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Williamsport, or Harrisburg. Also, consider asking your question in the Northeast PA or Pennsylvania main forums, as Danville is pretty far from Harrisburg.

Good luck!

That's always a plus! Although, there's a lot to be said for the scenic drive from Harrisburg to Elysburg.

I have a fifth wheel camper that i keep at a campground in Milton... It's great because if a Saturday is dull there, we pick up and go to Knoebels and use up left over tickets
