Hi. My family and I are looking to move to the Mechanicsburg area. While we were there last weekend driving around, we noticed an oil refinery on Texaco Rd. Does anyone know anything about it? Clearly we don't want to be near it, but its good to know if its known for problems or anything.

I don't think that's a refinery, I think it's just a storage depot.

It is a storage field. There is another on the east side of Mechanicsburg. Historic leaks from the east side have gone under Trindle Rd., in fact part of Trindle Rd still doesn't have sewers because I heard that when they tried to build some in the 1970's the ground blew up from the gasoline vapors. Those are areas to watch out for especially in limestone territory where the contamination could travel further. Could do a file review at DEP (need to schedule those about a week in advance,
Southcentral Regional Office )although what you find there could be difficult to interpret for the lay person.
