Did you relocated to Harrisburg from a large city? If so tell me what it's like for you living in Harrisburg or surrounding areas. I'm considering moving for a job opportunity. I'd like to get a better since of what it's like to live in the area? Is it mostly rural? Nightlife/entertainment? Opportunities to be social?

Help me out. Thanks

Hello Wondering2012, I moved here from Dallas, Texas. So you could say I moved from a big city to a... small, boring city. Harrisburg is what you make it I guess. It has the makings of a great city; one that is on a river with city island (where the baseball team plays). Living here, you are close to DC, Philly, and New York. All within a 3 hours drive. That's nice. But! I just don't care for this city. I'm originally from Richmond, VA, and even though that is not a big city necessarily, it is MUCH nicer than Harrisburg. The East Shore of Harrisburg is dirty, has high crime, and obvious poverty. The West Shore is actually much nicer, I like it over there. The areas of Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg are lovely areas. I know I'll get a lot of flack from people who are from Harrisburg, but I don't know.. it's just how I feel. My husband and I find any excuse to get out of here on the weekends. We love restaurants and have only found a few that are decent. The "#1" restaurant in the city is very expensive and no better than any other chain restaurant out there. We haven't done a whole lot of night life activities, and I know there are some cool bars down on 2nd Street downtown, but it's just all very underwhelming.
