Hello, everyone! Within the year I plan on moving and have narrowed it down to Charlottesville, VA; Richmond, VA; Harrisburg, PA; Lancaster, PA or Philadelphia, PA. My budget is 130,000 - looking for a condo. I would highly appreciate some advice on which would be the best place to pick. I have a 3 year old, so I want to keep it a relatively safe area and good schools. I love the snow, city life, cultural activities like museums, theater and such. Also, I plan on opening a clothing store within the next few years so looking for a good economy type town. Thanks everyone! I'm also taking suggestions for any place in between.

If you need snow, PA or north of PA would be a good idea. VA is going to give you occasional freezing rain, some slush, but not much else.

With a choice between those two states, I would urge you to consider state income taxes and real estate taxation. We are moving from PA to another state (not because of taxes) and will save about 75% on real estate taxes for a house of about the same value. ($6000 vs $1500 or less, per year)

I am not sure what kind of clothing store you are considering, but I would be somewhat concerned about customer base in ANY of the areas you listed. You will be competing with Target, Walmart AND The Mall. If you are doing used clothing, you are competing with existing used clothing sellers.
