I have been looking on craigslist, homes.com rentals.com etc and really have not seen many homes to rent. Looking moreso for ones with wooded areas in the area of Lewistown and vicinity. Where do people usually list rentals? Are there any realtors who have homes for rent listings? Is it common for people to just put for rent signs on their homes? Guide me in the right direction, hope to move before the end of this year!
thanks

We wanted to rent a house with acreage so we could garden, and I couldn't find anything - I actually put a post on craigslist myself with a lot of details about my family, said I could provide references, etc, and our current landlord contacted us - she was nervous about advertising, so she was happy to find someone who was already looking for exactly what she wanted to rent. Don't know if this works every time, but it did for us!

Meh, we only live here because our family lives here. I've lived in Madison, Wisconsin and near Charlottesville, VA, and found the "vibe" in both those places way more interesting. Central PA is pretty heavily influenced by the whole straight-laced German culture thing, IMO - people are polite, but not outgoing and friendly like Virginians, and not super kind like I found folks in Wisconsin. Just...polite. Lol. One thing I do really like about this area is that it's an easy drive to a lot of different activities - nice state parks, NYC, Inner Harbor, easy airport access, Philly, east coast beaches, etc. And the economy doesn't seem quite as volatile as some places.
