This, plus the CSX intermodal facility down in Franklin County, will add more trucks to an area where the highways are already congested with trucks.

All I can see bere is a local politician who thinks he stands a better chance of holding office by appearing tobe in synch with the fears, mostly yet too be proven, of the most simplistic of his constituents.

I'd suggest a few of them might learn a few thinks from a trip to Jersey City and Hoboken. Two generations ago, much of the the freight intended not only for New York and Long Island, but also a portion of the New Jesey suburbs, was brought here, and either unloaded, floated across the harbor to piers in lower Manhattan, or stored in large public warehouses.

This activity not only provided good-paying jobsl; the owners of these privately-held facilities paid substantial property taxes, often assessed at a higher rate than that imposed in residental areas, for political reasons that should be obvous. The exodus of that developemt, and the revenues it genereated, are a key reason why property taxes inthe short-sifghted state of New Jersy are so high now.

Unfortunately, there's a sucker born every minute who thinks he can have itboth ways, and a politician ready convince hom that he can.

ns also has an intermodal facility in greencastle. the entire point of 81 is to move trucks and act as a reliever for the overly congested. 95.
