Seriously! With Hershey, Pinnacle and the others, it should not take more than 2 weeks to schedule a doctor appointment as a new patient. It definitely shouldn't take until late August/September.

What is the issue here? The population is not that high, and there are LOTS of doctors.

They may not all take your insurance. Go to the hospital and ask them which doctors accept your insurance, then let them make the appointment.

Why would you go to a hospital and ask?? Providers are always listed on the insurance companies website. I would look for a different doctor. I agree that a first appt. shouldn't take so long to schedule.

It depends on the specialty. There's a shortage of some specialists.

In my area, it's dermatologists. You have to wait forever to see one where I live.

Because as I have discovered the websites are not up-to-date and specialists have incredibly long wait times. I agree - go to the hosp

Google Drs. - there are lots of med. sites that review them and list insurance accepted - CALL ON THE PHONE to verify they accept insurance, make appt.

That's par for the course. I just switched from Pinnacle to Hershey Med and my first appointment is over a month away. The simple answer is that because all the healthcare providers around here are that bad, none of them have any incentive to improve. Hiring additional doctors costs money, which eats profit.

Walk-in medical clinics are a saving grace if your insurance covers them. I can walk into Patient First, be seen in ten minutes, and be out in 20 -- all without an appointment.

This area was years to decades behind in having walk-in clinics, too.
